I finished my first ever race on Sunday-the Iron Girl 5k in Clearwater!
After the race next to an awesome sand sculpture!

Chip Time: 38:40
Pace: 12:29/mi

Place: 1447 out of 2600

Mile 1:
The first mile went by super fast and felt easy once I got past the start...probably due to adrenaline. I learned that in future races I need to get there earlier-I started towards the back of the pack which really slowed me down because I had to weave around the walkers throughout the race.

Mile 2:
There was a strong headwind throughout the race, but mile two was extra windy and difficult because we ran over the Clearwater Memorial Causeway.  However, the views were gorgeous.  At the very top of the bridge, I looked out over the water and there was a beautiful rainbow!  I wish that I had a photo of it!  As we ran past cars on the bridge, many of the drivers cheered us on.  At the bottom of the bridge was a water station-I was extra thankful for the volunteers there because I was super thirsty after tackling that bridge!

Mile 3:
I literally had chills during mile three because I knew that I was about to finish my first 5k! I saw Ryan (my fiance) at the last couple of turns cheering me on loudly and it really pumped me up! I sprinted as fast as I could during the final stretch to the finish line! I had the biggest goofy grin on my face for hours afterwards! It was so much fun! I certainly wasn't the fastest runner, but I'm really happy with how I did-especially considering the fact that I was still sick with pneumonia a week ago! I actually ran 7 minutes faster than my 3 mile training run the Friday before!  Best day ever!

Ryan took this photo of me-two more turns before the finish line!

I matched my nail polish to my race day outfit

A close-up of what will be the first of many race medals!

Here's my sleepy sweetheart, Ryan, on the drive home.
He's the best because he got up at 5am to cheer me on
and he never complained once! I can't even count the number
of times he told me that he was proud of me!
Best Fiance Ever!

I'm a Girl on Fire

...well...my nails look like they are at least...

In case you didn't catch the reference from the title, this weeks nails were inspired by my current favorite book series: The Hunger Games

I painted a two coat base of a deep brown tinged metallic wine color (OPI for Sephora's "I'm With Brad") and topped it with Essie LuxeEffects "Shine of the Times".  I was going for a look that combines fire with nature and I think I may have done just that...

The LuxeEffects topcoat gives the appearance of yellow and red embers on the almost black base.
Here you can see a little bit of the green shimmer that is more visible in person.
Is anyone else super excited about The Hunger Games movie this March?!

Salle de bain

It took a few months to find things that I really loved, but I have finally finished redecorating my master bathroom!

I discovered this really pretty butterfly & floral print shower curtain at West Elm and immediately fell in love with it.  However, since it is not only my bathroom, but also my Fiance's, I wanted to keep the bathroom from becoming too girly.  I decided to go with masculine grey towels and a graphic chevron print bath mat to add some contrast to the feminine shower curtain.  I think it turned out nicely!
The perfect mixture of masculine and feminine.
Curtain & Bathmat: West Elm.  Towels: Target
Here is a view of the sink area.  Simple and clean.
